Dr. Irsal Las
Prof. Irsal Las has completed his Bachelor Degree at Andalas University, West Sumatra (1976). He got his Master (1982, maj. agrometerology) and Doctoral Degree (1992, maj. agroclimate) both from Bogor Agriculture University.
At this time, he held the office of the Indonesian Center for Agricultural Land Resources Research and Development as Director. Before that, he carried out many tasks, such as, Head of Agroclimate Research Program at Soil Science Research Institute (1979-1984), Head of sub program for ecofisiology and Head of research program for ecofisiology and agroclimate at Research Institute for Food crops (1984-1994), Program Coordinator at Research Institute for Food Crops Biotechnology (1994-1995), Head of inter-island water resources research program and Head of agroclimate and hidrology research group and at Center for Soil and Agroclimate R&D (1996-2000), and Director of Research Institute for Rice (2000-2005).
He reached the Senior Researcher level on Agrometeorology in 2001, and achieved Research Professor in 2006. Prof. Irsal received award from the president of the Republic of Indonesia for outstanding researchers on National Food Security.
