Indonesian Center for Food Crops Research and Development (ICFORD) is responsible for research and development of food crops (rice, maize and other cereals, legumes such as soyabean, and peanuts). Its work covers plant genetics (management of germplasm and breeding) and resource management to improve production systems, harvest and post-harvest handling.
ICFORD coordinates Indonesian Center for Rice Research (ICRR), which is located at Sukamandi, West Java and having tasks in conducting research in rice. While ICFORD’s research institutes are Indonesian Legumes and Tuber Crops Research Institute (ILETRI), which is located in Malang, East Java, and Indonesian Cereals Research Institute (ICRI), which is located in Maros, South Sulawesi. Their tasks and functions are conducting research, attaining conservation of germ-plasm, encouraging the development of variety, Controlling pests and illness, optimalizing the developed technology of rice, legumes, tuber and cereals. ICFORD also manages a research station for tungro disease.
